Short Biography - Irene Friesen
Diverse life experiences have prepared me to establish Terra Mandala – a place where people come to heal, learn and reflect. At Terra Mandala, our services integrate spiritual teachings, ecotherapy, healing, activism and art. Let me tell you a little about my spiritual path.
While studying religion at a Mennonite college, I discovered feminist theology and the concept of the androgyny of God, and came to understand that the Divine cannot be limited by gender. I was grateful when the women’s spirituality movement reintroduced the goddess to our culture.
While living in the Morden area in the early 80’s, I was involved in peace activism. After moving to Winnipeg in 1984, my community work included activism in the areas of international development, human rights and employment equity.
